BET Update

No. 9 Connecticut 76 - No. 4 Syracuse 71 (OT)

No. 3 Louisville 83 - No. 2 Notre Dame 77 (OT)

Up Next: No. 9 Connecticut - No. 3 Louisville Sat. 9pm ESPN

Amazingly, both games went into overtime. ND played extremely well in the first half but second half shooting went cold, making 2 baskets in the final 14 minutes. Who knows why we opted so many long outside shots that wouldn't fall when we were in the bonus with 12min left and two of their players with 4 fouls after one had already fouled out.

Regardless of the outcome, maybe we were looking ahead, who knows. But at no worse we will be a 2 seed. It is still possible to come out with a 1 seed. Depending what happens with Duke and Nolan Smith getting injured, an overtime loss to a good team may have been enough for us to stay in. But at the beginning of the season, if you were told ND would be a 2 seed in the NCAA tournament, would you care how the individual games went?

Sure, a disappointing loss but if we were going to have a night when the whole team shot < 25% in a half and blew a 14 point lead, let it be tonight when we still have another game to play.

ND finishes the BET with a 26-6 record, good for a 0.867 winning percentage. We'll find out Sunday how everything falls into place.
